DeafAssist is permanently free — captions, transcription & rights. Part of MN Labs Help Hub.
Why we built this

About DeafAssist

Free captions and rights guidance — because accessibility tools shouldn’t sit behind a paywall.

The problem

Deaf students, patients and service users deserve full access to spoken communication. Speech-to-text tools exist — but many are locked behind enterprise plans, per-minute billing, or privacy-invasive platforms. Schools, NHS services and charities often can’t budget for that.

What DeafAssist does

Live browser captions for conversations and meetings — Upload audio for Whisper transcription. Browse plain-English UK rights on adjustments, Access to Work, NHS communication support and more.

Why it’s free

MN Labs builds compliance software for UK businesses. We also run Help Hub — free public-benefit tools. DeafAssist is part of that: built to help, permanently free, no plan to put live captions behind a card.

Who it’s for

  • Deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the UK
  • Schools, DSUs and communication support teams
  • NHS, social care and charity staff
  • Employers arranging workplace adjustments
  • Anyone who needs free, private captions right now
Not a replacement for interpreters

Live captions help day-to-day access. Critical appointments, exams and legal meetings still need qualified BSL / speech-to-text professionals.
